Screening options

Around ten weeks into your pregnancy you will meet with your team midwife to plan your care throughout your pregnancy, including a discussion about your screening options.

You will be ready for your ultrasound scan between 12 and 14 weeks, and at this time you will also be offered a combined screening test for Downs Syndrome.

If you are beyond 14 weeks you may be offered the Quadruple test which can also screen for spina bifida.

Between 20 and 22 weeks you will then be offered an additional scan to look for any fetal anomalies.

More information can be found in our FAQS, or on the NHS Choices website.
